When Girmay Zahilay first told me about his plan to run for office in Seattle, I really wanted to know his “why”. I quickly learned that Girmay’s motives were deeply rooted in wanting to improve the lives of people in his community because he grew up in less than ideal circumstances in Seattle. Girmay hopes to promote equity, increase innovation, and increase political access for all as a Council member in King County.
